Hope Valley Railway Users' Group was reconstituted in September 2008 with the aim of improving the Hope Valley service. Our key objective is to increase the frequency of services that stop in the Hope Valley. We are a membership organisation, and currently have more than seventy members, most of whom are regular users of the Hope Valley line. Our membership is growing rapidly, and at a recent public meeting the group discussed the current draft Yorkshire and Humberside Route Utilisation Strategy.

Northern to recommend an improved
evening service for the Hope Valley line

Northern have stated that they will be
recommending improvements to the evening peak
service, which is fantastic news. The plan is for the
current 17.18 service out of Manchester to be
replaced ... and crucially for a 18.14 service to run
from Sheffield to Manchester

Good news for Dore & Totley Passengers

From 14 December 2009, two more Eastbound
Trans-Pennine Express services will call at Dore &
Totley on Mondays to Saturdays to give later
services for returning commuters.

Our priorities:

- To improve the timetable on the line. We are campaigning for an
hourly stopping service between Manchester and Sheffield

- To improve the quality of the trains in use on the line, particularly
focusing upon the over-crowding on peak-time services

- To represent the concerns of our members relating to other
aspects of the train services to the relevant train companies
